L7 met Gloria Steinem backstage at Constitution Hall, Washington, D.C., on January 14th, 1995.

We had just performed at a benefit concert that Gloria organized for Voters For Choice, which supported pro-choice candidates.

Also on the bill were Pearl Jam, Neil Young (with Crazy Horse), and Lisa Germano.

I don’t even know what to say. Seeing Gloria Steinem pass during a time when women’s rights are being taken away again, after all she did to propel women forward… is deeply upsetting. Thank you for your leadership, Gloria. Your badassery, wisdom, and courage. The commitment. Oof. This makes me sad. RIP
