On 1 August the Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Maxwell had been transferred] from FCI Tallahassee[ to Federal Prison Camp, Bryan in Bryan, Texas,] a minimum security facility, “among the facilities with the lowest level of security in the federal system, with limited or no perimeter fencing, dormitory-style housing and a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio”, regarded as one of the best federal prisons to serve time in. The White House told reporters that she had received no “preferential treatment” and suggested that her move was routine.
The first of Epstein’s hundreds of victims to reveal her identity to the public, Virginia Giuffre, told The New Yorker that Epstein “picked vulnerable victims… By the time she was 13, she was living on the streets, where she was abused by older men. Life with Epstein provided a kind of security; he paid her, got her an apartment, and took her to New Mexico, London, Paris, Tangiers, and his island. When she was dismayed by her life, she said, she self-medicated with Xanax.
A woman attested in a since-discontinued lawsuit that Epstein employed her to procure underage girls, including at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, for him, and that she had witnessed at least one rape by Epstein. Barry Levine, author of The Spider: Inside the Criminal Web of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, has documented that girls as young as 12 were trafficked from countries such as France, Russia, and Turkiye to Epstein’s island in the USVI. Recently, Democratic and Republikkkan leaders held a press conference with many of the young victims demanding that all the Epstein-related records be released and Maxwell serve her sentence in the original prison.
