Let’s Talk Punk with Celebrity Stalker

Interview By Lisa-PunkrPrincess

Punk Globe: Hi guys and thanks for chatting with us, can you give us a little band history, including current line up?

Celebrity Stalker: We have been together for a while now as Celebrity Stalker, our previous band was Jive Pony, which included Jason on bass, Charlie on drums, Larry on guitar, and our previous vocalist Eric. Once the decision was made to move on from Jive Pony, Celebrity Stalker was born. Celebrity Stalker is a power trio, featuring Larry on guitar, Charlie on drums, with Jason on bass and also taking over vocal assassin duties.

Punk Globe: Describe your music making process.

Celebrity Stalker: Our song writing process is a team effort where Jason and Larry work out the lyrics and music, with Chuck helping with the overall orchestration of the songs.  We all bring different strengths to the process. Jason is the band’s primary lyricist and Larry works out most of the riffs and music.

Punk Globe: I know you all do a lot of shows, what about tours?

Celebrity Stalker: We have focused on the Pacific Southwest so far, playing CA, AZ, and NV.  We are looking to expand our reach, looking into getting out to the East Coast.

Punk Globe: Tell us about your most recent album release, Anything new coming up?

Celebrity Stalker: Our last release was a single release for our song Your Mom, before that we released our full length album Year of the Thief coming out of the Covid era.  We are currently working on new material we plan on recording in the fall.

Punk Globe: Describe your local music scene.

Celebrity Stalker: We are involved in the Southern California music scene, playing a lot of shows from Los Angeles to San Diego. The local scene is very competitive, and can be a bit cutthroat at times. We do our best to support the bands in the scene, focusing on networking, and developing friendships with the other bands whenever possible.

Punk Globe: What is the biggest challenge you face as a band?

Celebrity Stalker: Coordinating band practice, none of the band members live close to each other.  It does become a challenge to navigate Orange County/LA traffic to get to the rehearsal studio Beat Garage 2 out in North Hollywood.

Punk Globe: If you could tour anywhere in the world where would you go?

Celebrity Stalker: Japan, we hear nothing but good things about the music scene in Japan. The fans really seem to appreciate the bands that tour through Japan

Punk Globe: Favorite local place to eat?

Celebrity Stalker: Your Mom’s kitchen.  She has some serious baking skills. Check out our music video for our song Your Mom: https://youtu.be/r05KXvI8EeA?si=d7daZk08QU0K-Azx

Punk Globe: What other hobbies do you guys have, besides music?

Celebrity Stalker: Graphic art, video editing, promoting local shows, fencing.

Punk Globe: What’s in the future for the band?

Celebrity Stalker: Getting back in the studio to record our new material, and release a vinyl album.

Punk Globe: Where can we find your music and merch?
