Christopher Bogdon
Interview By: Ginger Coyote
The internet is filled with interesting people. Christopher wanted to advertise on Punk Globe so I decided to interview him… I was so happy that I did. He is a man of many talents. Please enjoy
Punk Globe: You were born and raised in Detroit. Can you give readers a rundown of Bogdon? What year did you form, and who is in the band?
Our first gig was in Feb 2020 as an opening band for my regular Detroit band “Cadillac Kidz” but Bogdon went over big so we did 2 more gigs the following year. Marc Falsetti is the drummer, and Danny Sanders plays bass. I sing and play
Punk Globe: Besides being a musician, inventor, and creative force, you deliver the mail for the United States Postal Service. How long have you been a mailman?
Whew, I delivered mail in the rain, sleet, and snow for 35 years. I quit. I’m retired.
Punk Globe: In your bio, you say Bogdon is a combination of garage, punk rock, and rock. What bands influenced your sound?
Wayne Kramer from the MC5 is mindblowing. I’d sit down and try to learn Robert Fripp’s gentle insanity. I think my guitar solos sparkle with both.
Punk Globe: You are also an inventor. You developed the Bogdon Bass Box, which landed you on the cover of Bass Player Magazine. very impressive.
I made a crazy cardboard box upright bass. I posted it on YouTube, and people wanted to buy it. I sold it and sent one to Bass Player magazine. They built it and loved it. NOT as an upright bass replacement, but just as something crazy and fun. It sounds good, which is why they celebrated it in
Punk Globe: Describe the club scene in Detroit.
You gotta have a car. The Detroit music scene is spread over a 50-mile radius without mass transit. Our busses suck because their routes are only made for employees going to work. The bar scene stretches into the suburbs. The music here offers everything one can imagine, from reggae to punk to rock, blues, jazz, and country. There’s a whole lotta tribute bands, and that’s another conversation. The local FM radio stations will play local bands occasionally. Our web radio is awesome! People go out and see everything. Clubs are open 5 or 6 days a week. Detroit has its underground favorites. You gotta know somebody that knows.
Punk Globe: In your bio, you mention playing Carnegie Hall. Tell the readers how that took place. My cardboard box upright bass attracted attention from a New York City group called “Bash The Trash” https://www.bashthetrash.com/. They travel the globe performing recycling presentations. They’ve done Broadway, was up for a Tony Award, and noticed me. One day, Bash the Trash played near Detroit and asked me to sit in. I played the whole show improv. BTT John said, “If you are in NYC next month, come on and play Carnegie Hall.” I made sure i was in NYC to gig there.
Punk Globe: Tell the readers about your latest release. We’re all just Crazy Americans
It’s an old song, maybe 10 years old. I wrote it while delivering the mail. I run into all kinds of weird situations and crazy people. Since I was walking alone outside for 6 hours humming to myself, the song wrote itself. All I did was remember it.
Punk Globe: Where can the readers go to obtain your music?
I’m easy to find and available everywhere. https://artists.landr.com/056870090344
Punk Globe: A former band you played with, Skeleton Crew, made a cameo in Beyonce’s “Flawless” video, Pretty Rad..
Beyonce knows who I am, where I’m at, what I do, and she doesn’t like me. I played fretless bass with Skeleton Crew in a TV Competition Show called Star Search ’92. The judges voted for us to win over Beyonce’s “Girl’s Tyme.” She still hasn’t gotten over it.

Punk Globe: What is in store for you in the future?
Writing and recording music, posting it everywhere, and doing dive bar tours once or twice a year.
Punk Globe: Describe yourself in three words?
Inventive. Gritty. Authentic.
Punk Globe: Any last words for Punk Globe readers?
Everything is possible; some things just take more time than others. Happy Anniversary
