For my Birthday on October 18th, PAULEY PERRRETTE, LINA LECARO, and TILLI had so much fun at THE B52’S, DEVO, LENE LOVICH show at The Hollywood Bowl …. A Special shout-out to DAMINABO aka NABU for getting us there and to TONIA BODLEY for finding us at The Bowl and meeting SIN QUIRIN, the guitarist for MINISTRY, who is so nice… I dropped ANI KYD WOLFE’S name when we met…… I am going to use what LINA LECARO wrote about the night.
PARTY OUT OF BOUNDS
THE B 52’S always make my Halloween playlists, natch. The band bid adieu during a much-touted farewell tour back in 2022, but they ended up playing live more than ever afterward, from the Darker Waves festival in the OC to a Vegas residency. Unlike MOTLEY CREW, who backtracked in a disingenuous and dorky way —signing a blood contract and coming back like a year later for the dough— I don’t hold it against Fred or the ladies. This band is one of the giddiest, good-energy-giving groups alive, so as long as they are up for sharing the love (shack shimmy), we’ll take it. We need it!
Their recent co-headlining show at the Hollywood Bowl with DEVO was everything you’d expect: all the hits, eye-popping visuals, and people dancing everywhere in colorful garb, wigs, and red domes. Unlike my recent experience with curmudgeon-y concert Karens during The Who, it was a bodacious, non-stop boogie night.
Our pal PAULEY PERRETTE’S garden box was also the site of a birthday celebration for punk rock legend GINGER COYOTE, who was also a guest of B-52 CINDY WILSON—loved hearing GINGER’S wild tales of debauchery with everyone on stage and so many others. This seminal music figure, who emerged from the San Francisco underground, has been based here in LA for years, publishing her ground-breaking magazine PUNK GLOBE, which any self-respecting punk fan should know.
MARK MOTHERSBAUGH sure does… When we said hi to him backstage after the Bowl show, he fixed his gaze on GINGER and said dramatically, “YOU’RE FAMOUS!!” then posed for some fun pics.
GINGER should be a lot more famous, actually— for keeping the spirit of punk alive via her long-running publication and with her band the WHITE TRASH DEBUTANTES. She is also a living testament to the resilience and rebellion of the genre, and one day, everyone will know why as a bio-doc has long been in the works to chronicle her life story.

SIN QUIRIN’S new band 3 HEADED SNAKE had a new single and video “Catharsis” that was just released…… Look for an interview with SIN with TARA REZ and SEGS JENNINGS… ANI KYD WOLF is so busy putting out videos for her band THE ROYAL STRAYS…. Fall and winter weather has set in in Vancouver. THE FLOYDIAN DEVICE and MS.LIGAYA have the fireplace heating their home… Thank you for The Thanksgiving invite WHEELZ ….. So close and very fun…. I went to see RODDY BOTTOM and MARGARET CHO at Skylight Books. It was epic!! Thanks for The shout- out MARGARET… RODDY is sending me his book…
THE HYPERDRIVE KITTENS Rawking the Bay Area….. GREG JACOBS did a book event with his friend and photographer LISA ARONOW. Her book of photography is “Punk and Other 4 Letter Words,” and mine is “HELL ON WHEELS.”…. Just when MARK DUDA was ready to cut rhythm tracks, THOMMY PRICE died. JIMI K. Bones ( Skin n’ Bones; Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Enrique Iglesias, etc) is still my producer and is working on a replacement. I have been in touch with LEZ WARNER(The Cult), and MARK is considering hiring LEZ (among others. I leave the personnel up to JIMI. …. KENNY ARRON (who played on MARK’S first album “Month of Sundays”) has agreed to play on the new record. Due out in 2026. MARK so thankful to all of my friends and fans who kept him going through his Wife’s illness!!! AMEN!

In the upcoming midterms, voters must do what they did with the special election in November with the ‘Blue Wave’ election results. With the tremendous Democratic wins on the East coast and ZOHRAN MAMDANI’S astounding win for Mayor of New York and his brilliant advice to the Orange blob, I know you are watching this victory.
