February 2025 – David Garcia The Lead Vocalist For The French Band Hellectric Spider Crew

David Garcia: The Lead Vocalist For The French Band Hellectric Spider Crew

Interview By: Ginger Coyote

On the recommendation of Nhell Monsterz, I check out him and the band. I liked what I saw and asked him for this interview. I hope you enjoy the interview.

Punk Globe: Thanks so much for the interview, David. Where in France are you and your band Hellectric Spider Crew located?

Hello Ginger, first of all, I really wanted to thank you for this interview. We are truly delighted to have gotten to know you, and I thank Nhell for her recommendation. The band is based in Montauban, a city located 50 km from Toulouse, France.

Punk Globe: For those readers who are not familiar with your killer band Hellectric Spider Crew, can you give them the band’s background story?

In the band, we have:

On rhythm and lead guitar: BEBEL

On drums and backing vocals: PIERRE

On bass and backing vocals: DOMUS

On harmonica and backing vocals: KRYSTOF

On lead vocals and rhythm/lead guitar: DAV

The story began about ten years ago with another project called HELLS FUCKERS, with whom we toured across France, including opening for MICK TAYLOR, the ex-Rolling Stones guitarist. The band included three current members: Bebel, Krystof, and myself (Dav). The band ended in 2017. During that time, I met Pierre, and together we formed Hellectric Spider Crew. We were joined by the former members of HELLS FUCKERS. All that was left was to find our bassist, and Domus joined us to finalize the project.

Punk Globe: I saw the band’s live videos. You have a killer light show, and you reminded me of Motorhead.

Thank you, Ginger. That will mean a lot to our lighting technician, who always does an amazing job with our modest resources in every venue, whether it’s a café or a concert hall. We’re all fans of big rock ‘n’ roll and watch a lot of live shows. Motorhead is a huge source of inspiration for us. Their live “Stage Fright” and the light show on “Overkill” are incredibly effective while staying old-school. Our technician draws a lot of inspiration from them.

Punk Globe: In our recent text, you mentioned loving Motorhead. Who else influences the band?

I discovered Motorhead at the age of 12, and my life was never the same after that. All their albums are incredible, and Lemmy is the embodiment of rock ‘n’ roll. He’s a cornerstone of rock, punk, and metal history, bringing everyone together. So yes, I absolutely love Motorhead.

Within the band, our influences are very rock-oriented and very varied:

Black Sabbath, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Alice Cooper, Lords of Altamont, Clutch, The Cramps, Rose Tattoo, Nashville Pussy, The Exploited, Social Distortion, Dead Kennedys, The Damned, Misfits, Stray Cats, Rancid, Rory Gallagher, Ten Years After – a big mix of punk and rock.

Punk Globe: You were recently in Scotland. Was the band on tour? Is the band signed with a label?

Yes, I was recently in Edinburgh, Scotland, on vacation. However, even on vacation, I’m always scouting for future concert opportunities. I visit a lot of concert pubs and venues that might host our music to explore possibilities for a future tour.

As of now, we don’t have a label. We’re self-produced but open to all proposals.

Punk Globe: Tell the readers about what they can expect when seeing Hellectric Spider Crew live.

Here’s a bio from a French fanzine:

Hellectric Spider Crew knows the recipe for rock ‘n’ roll: powerful riffs from the depths of hell, energy drawn from obscure rituals, venom flowing through the veins of each musician. The band spins its web and spreads its decadent religion. And you, poor creature, mere mortal, are now caught in its net.

Punk Globe: Tell us about the music scene where you are located. Are there a lot of venues to play?

We play in a lot of small associative venues, concert cafés, national stages, tattoo salons, and motorcycle gatherings. We perform throughout France and try to extend into Europe. We’re currently looking for dates in preparation for a European tour.

Punk Globe: Who are some of the bands you enjoy playing with?

We often share the stage with our friends from BIG T AND THE NUTS and ROBERT OPENIGHTMARE.

Punk Globe: Do you have any releases out? Where can the readers buy them?

We’re about to finalize our first EP, which will be released in mid-February and titled WILD KARMA. Readers can contact us by email at dav.tech13@yahoo.com or via the Hellectric Spider Crew Official Messenger, and we’ll happily send it to them. It will also be available on Spotify and all streaming platforms.

Punk Globe: Do you have a YouTube channel?

Yes, we have a YouTube channel : Hellectric Spider Crew and a Facebook page, Hellectric Spider Crew Official.

Punk Globe: What is in store for the future for Hellectric Spider Crew?

We currently have about ten dates scheduled until August. We’re working on a winter tour and preparing a second album for this winter.

Punk Globe: Any internet addresses you would like to give the readers to find out more about you and the band?

We plan to create a website later this year. In the meantime, I’m available to answer questions at dav.tech13@yahoo.com, which is our booking address.

Punk Globe: Do you have any shout-outs?

We would like to thank our audience, who travel to see us and have followed us from the beginning. A big thank you to Nhell for her recommendation, a big thank you to you, Ginger, and the entire Punk Globe Magazine team for giving visibility to bands like ours and keeping alive what we care most about – music. Thank you for this interview, Ginger, and thank you to all Punk Globe Magazine readers who take the time to discover us.
