Let's Talk Punk with Noise Agents

Interview By Lisa-PunkrPrincess

Punk Globe: Hi, Thanks for chatting with us, can you give us a little Noise Agents history? Including current members.

Noise Agents began in Gloucester, UK in 2008 and those members were Marcus Harley(drums)Chris Lloyd,(guitar) Liam O’Connell,(guitar) Baz Clarke,(bass), and Andy Kanonik,(box)

Current members are  Andy K (Vocals) Mike Woodside (Rhythm Guitar) Cory Barnhart (Drums) Perry Brophy (Bass) Ruthie Kanonik (Vocals)

Punk Globe: Describe your music-making process.

Noise Agents:- Lyrics are about everyday life which Andy wrote mainly, although not exclusively, always about things that are either important, funny, and relevant to us, Andy would then sing the melody to the then guitarist, who would then start the process of adding the music, also the guitarist would send a tune to Andy, and he would add lyrics, and that would also be the start of a song.

Baz Clarke also wrote “Nuff Said” and “Bullets”. Chris Lloyd wrote “School Days” and “Fight for Liberty”. For Mike, our guitarist, it’s about a beat and developing from that point.

Punk Globe: How many albums/songs have you released?

Noise Agents:- Our first album came out back in 2013, self-titled Noise Agents on Step 1 Music, we have one track on a compilation album as well, but the band has just recorded a 5 track EP of never-before-released songs, the EP will be on vinyl and ready for release in a few months.

Punk Globe: Tell us some of your favorite California venues.

Noise Agents:- This lineup has only played a handful of shows, but DNA Lounge in San Francisco, Tower Bar in San Diego was fun, and Alex’s Bar in Long Beach is one we hope to play this year.

Punk Globe: Describe a memorable show moment.

Noise Agents:- Always when the crowd sings along to your songs, you can’t beat that feeling.

The Tower Bar, Regal Inn, and Dr Strange have been great venues to play.

Punk Globe: Favorite song to perform?

Noise Agents:- Together We Stand, but Ruthie’s favorite song is “Punk and Oi!”

Mike’s favorite is our new release “Fake”.

Punk Globe: An Andy K question, Tell us the difference between the UK and USA music scene as a legendary musician.

Noise Agents:- There are not a lot of differences tbh, although I have seen a lot of changes over the years in opinions and attitude, there is a lot of creativity in our scene which many bands/musicians don’t get the credit they deserve, and that is both sides of the pond.

Punk Globe: Other than rocking the stage what other hobbies do you all have?   What are some long-term band goals?

Noise Agents:- I have a lot of interests/hobbies and I co-own A Round Of A Paws Pet Sitting with Ruthie. That keeps me very busy.  Ruthie and I have discussed this at length, and as long as both of us are healthy, we’d like to keep Noise Agents going for as long as possible. We have a 5 song EP coming out this Spring, and we’ll go back into The Church Studios in the fall of 2025 to finish the album.

Punk Globe: What/who are your biggest inspirations?

Noise Agents: Cockney Rejects, Cock Sparrer, Clash, Argy Bargy, Street Dogs

Punk Globe: What advice would you give a new younger band starting out?

Noise Agents:

  1. Enjoy what you’re doing
  2. Don’t bullshit anyone
  3. Whatever good comes your way, grab it with both hands
  4. Respect those who have paved the way

Punk Globe: I know you are playing the Whatever 68 13-Year celebration fest in April, which is so cool since Andy K used to be a WE68 DJ 🙂 Are there any other big show/ fests coming up?

Noise Agents: We’re playing the Rebellion Festival in August so far, but we’re getting a lot of requests for 2025.

Punk Globe: Where can we find you and your music? Any shout-outs?

Noise Agents: All music is streaming on all platforms through DistroKid.

Shout outs to: Daz Russell Smith, Daryl Smith, Terry Elcock, Bill Plaster, Lisa Monday-Gomez, Ron Mesh at Church Studios, Tara DuPuis, Brian Moore, Punk Globe, the late great Marcus Howells of Foreign Legion, Pete Ley of Guitar Gangsters, Marcus Harley and Steve Zuki of Demob, and our friends Mike Magran and Kimm Gardner of Channel 3, and of course Dutchie Hollands, and many more that will be included on the EP.

Punk Globe: Thanks for chatting with us and thanks to all the readers
