Wildfires due to the Santa Ana winds are ripping across parts of Los Angeles.

Weather conditions and the underlying impact of climate change are expected to continue fanning the flames for days to come, and there is intense scrutiny of officials’ preparedness for the disaster.

• Firefighters are using all available aerial resources to attack the fires during a break in the winds Saturday. Winds will pick up to moderate tonight, with a wind event on the horizon.
• The Palisades Fire continues to grow, burning homes in Mandeville Canyon Saturday, with evacuations ordered for parts of Brentwood and the hills of Encino and Tarzana.
• The county medical examiner reported that at least 28 deaths are connected to the fires, with that number expected to rise.
• As of mid-day, the Palisades Fire, the largest in the area, was about 22,660 acres with containment at 15%.
• The Eaton Fire northeast of Los Angeles was at 14,100 acres with containment at 55%
• More than 12,000 structures remain under threat and more than 100,000 people displaced from evacuation zones. Authorities say they expect the death toll will increase. There are more winds scheduled so we are not safe yet….. Some evacuation The Santa Ana’s strike again fast-moving blaze that began as a brush fire Wednesday spread across nearly 9,500 acres of bone-dry Los Angeles County, forcing evacuations of neighborhoods, schools, and even jails as firefighters battle to contain the spread in a region already scorched for weeks.
• The latest blaze, dubbed the Hughes Fire, runs through the Castaic area and has put the inferno-weary region back on high alert,  Rising winds threaten to spread the conflagration to suburban neighborhoods. 

My friend JOHN HANNAFORD  gave his thoughts: All those that the orange stain has been scapegoating, Firefighters from Canada, Mexico, and Native American communities are and have been courageously joining in and helping our California Firefighters end these firestorms;  all while Trump is threatening to withhold support for our State’s resources to combat fires if don’t capitulate to his MAGA policies, which only benefit the wealthiest at the expense of everyone else.  We won’t back down, we steadfastly support access and equal treatment for everyone.

GINGER COYOTE was evacuated to  PAN PACIFIC PARK…  Thank you MARSHA HUNTER …. It was a large cold gym but it had a roof It had a roof and  4 walls, with cots, blankets, pillows, chips, and water provided by THE RED CROSS  but did not have any medicine available … A lot of people were displaced…  When I got word my address was clear I took a Lyft home at 2 AM…… It was so cold there not good for fever, cold cough….
