Much Sadness
The Legendary TONY BENNETT has left the planet… I was fortunate enough to have met TONY with HERB CAEN at The Venetian Room in San Francisco When he sang ‘ I Left My Heart in San Francisco it sent chills down my spine… Ironically he passed 2 days before another Icon left us AMY WINEHOUSE passed on July 23rd in 2011 and TONY BENNETT on July 21, 2023
SINEAD O’ CONNOR, known for her wondrous cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” died at 56. She left behind a legacy that touched millions. She shaved her head to show Power For Women. MS. O’ CONNOR had been open about her struggle with mental illness throughout her career. She recently shared on Facebook that she had moved back to London after 23 years and was working on an album set to be released next year. She also had plans for tours across various continents in the coming years. SINEAD had been living as an “undead creature” after the passing of her son, SHANE, 17, who took his own life in January 2022 after escaping a hospital while on suicide watch. Her early life was marked by difficulties, having endured her parents’ separation and abuse from her mother. Despite the hardships, O’CONNOR discovered her musical talent.. My pal TIM DEVINE signed her to Sony Records.
PAUL REUBENS aka PEE -WEE HERMAN lost his battle with cancer. Ai first met PAUL at Al’s Bar in downtown Los Angeles. We later became closer through our mutual friends CASSANDRA PETERSON aka ELVIRA, COLLEEN FITZPATRICK aka VITAMIN C, and JUDY TENUTA the last time we spoke was when JUDY left the world also from cancer. He never let on he himself was also sick. PAUL made the world a much better place R.I.P.
Condolences go out to CHRIS STEIN of BLONDIE and BARBARA SICURANZA who lost their daughter AKIRA STEIN at the end of May to an overdose… Our hearts at PUNK GLOBE go out to CHRIS and BARBARA…

Oh, what a fun night I was 17 at a PRETTY THINGS party at The Holiday Inn Union Square in San Francisco.
THE PRETTY THINGS had signed to Swan Song Records .
ROBERT PLANT came into the hotel room and said to me “I know what you need! “
He then pulled 3 Quualudes out of his skin-tight jeans. He then put them in my mouth and had me chase them with Tequila….
Then in the morning when he walked me home around 8 AM, we saw students at The Academy Of Art school they saw us walking and began screaming asking for his autograph…

Journalist DONALD BAIRD has the right attitude he heard the term “Abortion Tourism” used to describe when women must travel out of state for an abortion, and how the government should not fund it! This republican abortion shit has really gotten so Handmaidens Tale. He couldn’t watch the series because it was so bleak and now it has literally come true. Blessed be the fruit. He mentioned John Waters once yelling from his car at a pro-life demonstration outside a clinic, “I wish I were a girl so I could have an abortion!” I agree. All these rights being rapidly taken away is feeling like a whirlpool that is sucking America down and it’s too fast for a lifeline to save anyone. Time to up our outlaw game for real.
